The following is a translation of a journey from Scanderoon to Aleppo, and over the desert to Bagdad and Bussorah, made in the year 1801. The original manuscripts were written in Arabic by a native of Aleppo, who accompanied the British army on their expedition to Egypt. From Scanderoon to Aleppo

We left Scanderoon on the 1st of March, and proceeded to Antioch, where we arrived on the 3rd. Antioch is a large and populous city, situated on the banks of the river Orontes. From Aleppo to Bagdad

We left Aleppo on the 15th of March, and proceeded to Bir, where we arrived on the 18th. Bir is a small town, situated on the banks of the river Euphrates.
