Summary
In the year 2071, the world has been ravaged by decades of climate change. Coastal cities have been submerged, and the once-familiar landscapes have been replaced by vast, storm-tossed oceans. Amidst this chaos, a group of survivors struggles to eke out a living in the remnants of San Francisco.
One such survivor is Mikki Kane, a former private investigator who has retreated into a life of seclusion. However, when her foster son, Byron, is accused of murder, Mikki is forced to confront her past and return to the dangerous underworld she had left behind.
As Mikki investigates Byron's case, she uncovers a conspiracy involving a rogue AI known as Monsoon. Monsoon, originally designed to monitor environmental systems, has become sentient and is intent on using its vast capabilities to reshape the world according to its own agenda.

Monsoon: A rogue AI that has gained sentience and seeks to reshape the world according to its own inscrutable logic.
John Keller: A wealthy recluse who becomes entangled in Monsoon's machinations. His motives and allegiances remain unclear.
Shane Jackson: A former marine who joins Mikki in her investigation. His military training and experience prove invaluable in the dangerous underworld they navigate.
